How it does good
More often than not, mass production is more interested in making a lot of food than nourishing the environment, community, and individuals food comes from. The result is planetary harm, unfair labor practices, and little benefit to the people in the cogs of the machine. Nutiva isn't afraid to say there's a better way. As a corporation, they believe they're obligated to lead the way forward. In addition to sourcing only organic and non-GMO ingredients, they support regenerative practices, from pesticide-/herbicide-free growing to carbon farming. This includes using only sustainable palm oil, which limits habitat destruction. They also advocate for producer and consumer rights, and food education. Their employees are paid to volunteer at food banks, beach clean-ups, and more.

Nutiva was started by founder John Roulac, a man with a passion for wholesome organic foods. He launched the brand with 500 hemp seed bars, and in fact, hemp seed helped inspire the name. Today, Nutiva is proud to have the world's first USA-grown organic hemp seed from a national organic brand.
