Breakfast Blend Tea

Everyone has their morning routine, but our favorite is this full-bodied blend of aromatic flavors. Dark Assam, spicy Ceylon, and musky-fruity Darjeeling teas taste so good together, you won't need an alarm.
Sustainable goodness
Numi works tirelessly to make a positive mark on the world, with an environmentally- and socially-based action plan.
Why we love it
Darjeeling tea is known as the “champagne of teas,” so you could call this blend a tea mimosa. (Tea-mosa? We’re working on it.) Delicately sweet flavor is joined with the bolder, brisker flavors of Assam and Ceylon teas in a pleasantly reddish, complicated feat of tea alchemy (tea-chemy?) that’s caffeinated enough to keep you going with a grin on your face.
This breakfast blend is high caffeine, like a good morning drink should be.

How it does good
A global family business serving the global family
Tea-making is hardly as simple (or as soothing) as pouring water into a cup. Deforestation, water shortages, and threats to biodiversity are all results of less ethical tea-based agriculture. Numi, a brother-sister team based in Oakland, is out to change that, with environmental practices focused on making great, flavorful tea while protecting land and employees. They cut out pesticides, fertilizers, and machine picking that impact taste, farmland, and the workers who handle them. They also use practices that sustain ecological harmony and send out their products in compostable bags and wrappers. The word “Numi” refers to an Iraqi drink, symbolic of hospitality and community. True to its name, Numi is introducing new, global tastes and new, globally protective practices with their tea.
-
supporting key causes
The Numi Foundation donates fresh fruits and vegetables to food-insecure families and works with communities for long-term access to drinking water and sanitation. And community gardens, diversity and inclusion organizations, and a 2020 ballot initiative to eliminate truck emissions in California are just some in a long, long list of their contributions. -
low carbon footprint
Numi began eliminating direct and indirect carbon emissions along their growth and production lines in 2011. As of 2020, they have officially achieved Climate Neutral Certified status, which means that they have reduced and offset their emissions down to zero. Way to set a goal and stick to it! -
recyclable packaging
In 2020, they introduced a first-of-its-kind, plant-based wrapper, made with sugarcane and eucalyptus to be industrially compostable and break down fully, without any leftovers that will be harmful to the environment. -
responsible sourcing
Their founders maintain direct, decades-long relationships with tea producers, with traceable products from more than 34 countries. They support their farmers and producers with Fair Trade Certification and Fair Labor Verification, which uphold living standards and sponsor education, health care, community, and infrastructure initiatives for farming communities.
How to use it

For a perfect, energizing brew, steep 4-5 minutes. Add milk only if you want to. For a rejuvenating iced version, steep 2 tea bags, allow to cool, and pour over ice.
When you're done...
The carton is curbside recyclable. The tea bag is home or industrially compostable. The wrapper is industrially compostable. Find a location near you.
These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.
