Why we love it

If there was a chocolate hall of fame, milk chocolate hazelnut bars would definitely be there. Between spreads and ice creams and candies, there's no end to the ways these two flavors complement each other. Our personal favorite is simple though: a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth kind of chocolate bar, like this one.

Across cocoa supply chains, things are not happening fairly. In fact, they're downright unethical, and Tony's Chocolonely is not afraid to call it out. Chocolate is enjoyed all around the globe, but the regions producing cocoa are subject to poverty and forced labor due to the demand to keep cocoa purchasing prices as low as possible for big chocolate distributors. Tony's is leading by example to do things differently. They're using 100% traceable beans, paying higher prices for their cocoa, and building strong relationships with their farmers in an effort balance the system. The fight to do good doesn't stop there though. Tony's also uses sustainable practices on their farms to protect the rainforest and improve agricultural ecology.

    On top of everything else they do, they've paid the Walk Free Foundation and Tulane University to research their value chain for any possibilities of forced labor or exploitation. They are constantly working to maintain their high standards and achieve something better for everyone.

    Tony's Chocolonely is a committed advocate for human rights. In addition to all of the hard work they're doing to end slave labor in the cocoa industry, they also work with their farms for at least 5 years to ensure longer term success for their farmers.

Their Chocolate Colony is rooted in five sourcing principles: traceable beans, higher prices (they pay a greater premium than the Fair Trade premium), strong farmers, long-term investment (at least five years), and better quality and productivity on the farms. They do incredible work to make incredible chocolate—some of our favorite flavors are white chocolate raspberry, dark milk chocolate + pretzel, and milk chocolate caramel + sea salt.

Delicious

It reminded me of Easter chocolate from decades ago. The good stuff that tasted like what it was, real chocolate with moderate sweetening and creamy texture. Some of this order isn’t going to make it into the Christmas stockings. Very fair price as well.

Excellent chocolate and great social support to the cocoa industry

Love the chunkiness and thickness, can't be beat if you love a big brick of chocolate with some great flavorings. This is just about the only chocolate we buy for snacking.

Whole Hazelnuts?

Tony's is a favorite, it is always good, but we were disappointed in this one. The description goes to lengths to say that the hazelnuts are whole, which makes it somewhat unique, but they either aren't actually whole or are the world's smallest hazelnuts. For hazelnut chocolate there are better options out there, unfortunately.

Love love love this chocolate!

This is my first time eating Tony’s Chocoloney and I am placing another order. Creamy, smooth, tasty and the hazelnuts were perfect.
