We can't put you on a plane to Fiji, but we can offer you a spoonful of almond butter complete with crunchy pieces of crystallized, candy-like Fiji ginger. It's one of those "Oh WOW that's good" kind of tastes.

Why we love it

Our Chief Brand Curator, Kate, declared this her favorite product. Pretty high praise if you ask us. There's a lot to love about this unique nut butter, but we think Kate herself says it best.
"I love that you can feel the texture change of the candied ginger and get the pops of spice."
Agreed, Kate. Definitely agreed. So if you're looking to spice up your next nut butter and jam sandwich, we definitely recommend this one.

How it does good

Starting from scratch and building something better

Nut butters can be made with very simple ingredients. Namely the nuts themselves. When it comes to farming them, Big Spoon Roasters has committed to responsible sourcing. Mark Overbay, the founder, was inspired to create his nut butters after spending time in Zimbabwe. There, he learned to honor simple ingredients and bring care into everything he makes. By using trusted, transparent farms and producers that share their philosophy, Big Spoon makes it clear that their relationships with suppliers are honest and long-lasting. Doing this means both the farmers and Big Spoon can help each other by collectively growing the demand for higher quality, sustainable agriculture. Today, Big Spoon makes their delicious nut butters in Durham, NC. They also work with Bee Friendly Certified almond growers in California along with domestic pecan farmers in Georgia, ginger farmers in Fiji, sorghum farmers in Tennessee, and more partners that ensure freshness, flavor, and quality.

  • recyclable packaging

Every nut butter jar is fully recyclable, and so are the bar boxes. Plus, the labels are printed with non-toxic ink.
  • supporting key causes

Big Spoon supports non-profit organizations that cover environmental conservation, wildlife habitat preservation, animal rights, human rights, hunger relief, literacy, education for the underprivileged, physical fitness, eating disorder recovery, and sustainable agriculture.
  • responsible sourcing

As Good Food Guild members and founding members of their local Living Wage business community, Big Spoon cares a lot about responsible sourcing. Although they source their organic cashews from farms in Vietnam, they're processed at SMETA-audited facilities to ensure high standards.

How to use it

Spread some on apple slices for a very fresh and crunchy treat. Or enjoy it the way Kate does, by the spoonful straight from the jar.

Big Spoon Roasters

Co-founder Mark Overbay learned to love simple, freshly roasted nut butters while serving in the Peace Corps in Zimbabwe. Fast forward a decade: Mark and his wife co-founded Big Spoon Roasters to share his handcrafted nut butters (and later snack bars) with the world. They believe food matters to our health, happiness, the well-being of the planet and should be a source of good for everyone involved in its production. Our favorite flavors include Fiji Ginger Almond Butter, Toasted Coconut Almond Butter and Chai Spice Peanut Butter.
