Cocoa farming poses a big risk for environmental damage, forced labor, and child labor. Alter Eco has set out to make a difference in the chocolate world by putting an end to these dangerous and destructive practices. Every single product Alter Eco produces is sourced directly from small-scale farmers. They go beyond the Fair Trade pay standards by providing their partners with targeted assistance with food security, biodiversity, and gender equality. They've committed to compostable, non-toxic wrappers and have been carbon neutral since 2009.
Alter Eco pays their farmers 1.3x (33% more) the standard Fair Trade payment. They also help cocoa farmers transition their land to dynamic agroforestry, training over 400 farmers in dynamic agroforestry since 2015.

We have been buying the Alter Eco 85% for several years now. Excellent product…..not too sweet and delivers a bolder cacao taste. Would highly recommend and the way HIVE ships it…..NEVER a bad(melted or chalky film) bar as a direct result to how Hive packages and ships.
