Organic Dark Roast Congolese Coffee

A medley of weighty, buttery cocoa flavor, vanilla, and pucker-up orange and cranberry. Is it time for a coffee break yet?
Sustainable goodness
Amani Coffee Company prioritizes its farmers and their communities, with more than fair wages and donations to DRC revitalization efforts for every bag.
Why we love it
We’ve heard coffee is for closers, and we’ve been closing left and right to get this dark roast, chocolatey blend in our cups. Gorgeous, almost-black beans tumble from Amani’s sweet paper bag, resulting in a rich, full-bodied coffee with notes of vanilla, citrus, and sour cranberry. Go ahead, pour another cup.

How it does good
Going above and beyond for Congolese families
The Second Congo War from 1998 to 2003 had grave repercussions on DRC, damaging the country both economically and socially. Amani Coffee Company takes its name from the Swahili word for “peace,” but their mission goes even further than promoting a peaceful life for Congolese families. They're also working to revitalize a network of farmers whose livelihoods depend on their crops, paying more than fair wages and offering equity ownership policies. Their cooperative is made up of almost 40% female farmers, and they pay all genders equally. By donating to Congolese organizations that seek to improve infrastructure and ensure social and economic justice, they’re setting an example for other coffee businesses and setting themselves apart.
-
supporting key causes
For every bag sold, Amani donates $1 to the non-profit Congo Restoration Effort, which promotes education, empowerment, and uplifting women. Amani is dedicated to enhancing Congolese community development and ensuring equal payment for all farmers, regardless of gender. -
responsible sourcing
Amani pays its 2,200 coffee farmers above fair wages, a practice which is currently unheard of in DRC and notoriously rare within the coffee industry. They prioritize their suppliers and their families’ well-beings, and their products are Organic and UTZ (sustainable farming) certified. -
recyclable packaging
Amani is working to make all its packaging zero waste.
How to use it
Did you know dark roast coffee makes delicious baked beans? Simmer brewed coffee, brown sugar, spice, and vinegar, then mix with bacon and beans.
When you're done...
Recycle the coffee bags with TerraCycle through our special instructions.
These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.
