Organic Light Roast Congolese Coffee

Amani Coffee

This light roast coffee smells so good, we almost didn’t want to drink it, but boy, are we glad we did. We love these beans' complex but mellow flavor, melting from tart and slightly fruity to nutty.

Sustainable goodness

Amani Coffee Company priortizes its farmers and their communities, with more than fair wages and donations to DRC revitalization efforts for every bag.

Why we love it

From “just woke up” to “just sending a few emails before bed,” this bright, light roast blend has you covered. We’re excited every time we unfold Amani’s simple paper bag to grind these dark brown Bourbon beans (a variety whose quality is as high as the altitude it's grown in). The flavor profile includes sugary red apple, lemon, and earthy cashew. It’s your mug’s new best friend.

How it does good

Going above and beyond for Congolese families

The Second Congo War from 1998 to 2003 had grave repercussions on DRC, damaging the country both economically and socially. Amani Coffee Company takes its name from the Swahili word for “peace,” but their mission goes even further than promoting a peaceful life for Congolese families. They're also working to revitalize a network of farmers whose livelihoods depend on their crops, paying more than fair wages and offering equity ownership policies. Their cooperative is made up of almost 40% female farmers, and they pay all genders equally. By donating to Congolese organizations that seek to improve infrastructure and ensure social and economic justice, they’re setting an example for other coffee businesses and setting themselves apart.

  • supporting key causes

For every bag sold, Amani donates $1 to the non-profit Congo Restoration Effort, which promotes education, empowerment, and uplifting women. Amani is dedicated to enhancing Congolese community development and ensuring equal payment for all farmers, regardless of gender.
  • responsible sourcing

Amani pays their 2,200 coffee farmers above fair wages, a practice which is currently unheard of in DRC and notoriously rare within the coffee industry. They prioritize their suppliers and their families’ well-beings, and their products are Organic and UTZ (sustainable farming) certified.
  • recyclable packaging

Amani is working to make all its packaging zero waste.

How to use it

Pour over ice and combine with simple syrup (our favorite is just saucepan-dissolved sugar and a splash of vanilla extract) for a homemade iced coffee that'll make your barista jealous.

When you're done...

Recycle the coffee bags with TerraCycle through our special instructions.

These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.
