Sustainable practices in farming can and should be a part of the business from day one. Since 1989, Crofter's has been making organic fruit spreads using fair trade ingredients. Each year, their products undergo strict organic audits, including herbicide and pesticide tests at their in-house lab. To sweeten their jams, they work with fair-trade certified cane sugar farms that use regenerative farming techniques. This means the sugar is responsibly grown and harvested so that the surrounding land and water are kept clean and free from pollutants.
Crofter's sources only fully-transparent, organic ingredients and rigorously tests for over 415 chemical residues in-house. Crofters is also is a key partner of The Green Cane Project, which helps sugar farmers adopt green harvesting practices, leading to regenerative soil qualities like that of virgin rainforest. Additionally, these farm workers receive fair compensation with ethical labor conditions, as well as community housing, access to healthcare, and even schooling for their children.

They also purify and recirculate all of their water runoff, which has reduced their water consumption by 85%. In the winter, the hot water they use to seal their jam jars is repurposed to heat all of their buildings.

Giving back is central to Crofter’s mission. To list a few: They donate yearly through Whole Planet Foundation to help provide micro-loan funding for businesses in developing world communities, and they contribute annually to the UNESCO Georgian Bay biosphere reserve, which funds environmental research studies, community food gardens, and community education programs.

Crofter's
Gerhard and Gabi Latka grew up together in a rural village in Germany, where they learned about the importance of flavor and high-quality ingredients. After a life-changing road trip in North America combined with this German food influence, they started their organic jam business. Years later, Crofter’s continues to make great jams while being environmentally friendly at the same time.

I cant say it enough...love,love,love this spread and all flavors. Looking for a jam, jelly, compote that is loaded with flavor but not too sweet crofters has just what you are looking for.
