How it does good
A closer connection between people and farmers
The tea, cocoa, and coffee farming industries are at the highest risk for worker exploitation and contributing to deforestation. For standard brands, these supply chains are notoriously lacking in transparency. That’s why Equal Exchange created a fair trade model that cuts out the middleman. Instead, they focus on direct, transparent trade with farmers and cooperatives. They work in collaboration with Root Capital and other organizations to help build farmer cooperative training programs. A USAID partner, Equal Exchange is heavily engaged in farmer cooperative capacity development, bringing technical assistance to in-country growers to help increase productivity, reliability and ultimately success in a global market.
supporting key causes
Equal Exchange donates 10% of their annual profits to organizations that align with their mission. They also direct grants to farmer cooperatives to work on projects ranging from investing in coffee tree nurseries to creating beekeeping collectives for farmers so they can diversify their crops and income.Learn More
By using fair and direct trade practices along with organic farms, Equal Exchange makes sure their supply chains are creating a better place for people and the planet.Learn More
low carbon footprint
Equal Exchange uses solar panels on their roasting facility to offset part of their energy use. By partnering with local farmers and gardeners, they turn used burlap bags and chaff from the roasting process into useful growing material. Plus, they compost in their offices.Learn More

About the Brand
The three founders of Equal Exchange came together with a shared vision in mind: fairness to farmers, and a closer connection between farmers and consumers. There is so much care and expertise from farmers that go into products, and in most supply chains, this is often overlooked. Equal Exchange's fair trade products are taking a stance and creating a difference for farmers, economy, and the planet.Shop Brand

Decaf With Flavor
So many decaf coffees don't taste like much. This has good flavor. I would recommend it.
I liked the smooth taste of this coffee,
Wonderful way to start the day!
Holy grail decaf
As a coffee geek who has developed a caffeine sensitivity, I now shop at Hive specifically because they carry this item in consumer (not bulk) quantities at a good price. No other decaf compares. I drink EE decaf daily and find it offers by far the best combo of tasty/ethical/healthy, likely because they use a CO2 decaf process (superior to swiss water imo)
Bold and rich without the guilt and reasonably priced from Hive.
