Organic English Breakfast Tea

We believe tea time can be any time with the right cup. This might say "breakfast", but we promise it's just as good whenever you have it.
Sustainable goodness
Farmer fairness is a top priority in addition to being one of the largest worker-owned cooperatives in the United States.
Why we love it
Black teas have a strong recognizable flavor. Every tea-lover has their own way of preparing their classic black tea. Some people dress it up with milk and sugar, and other people leave the bag in the whole time they're drinking it. We're not here to tell you how to make your English breakfast tea, we just want you to know this is a very good one.

How it does good
A closer connection between people and farmers
The tea, cocoa, and coffee farming industries are at the highest risk for worker exploitation and contributing to deforestation. For standard brands, these supply chains are notoriously lacking in transparency. That’s why Equal Exchange created a fair trade model that cuts out the middleman. Instead, they focus on direct, transparent trade with farmers and cooperatives. They work in collaboration with Root Capital and other organizations to help build farmer cooperative training programs. A USAID partner, Equal Exchange is heavily engaged in farmer cooperative capacity development, bringing technical assistance to in-country growers to help increase productivity and reliability to ensure success in a global market.
-
supporting key causes
Equal Exchange donates 10% of their annual profits to organizations that align with their mission. They also direct grants to farmer cooperatives to work on projects ranging from investing in coffee tree nurseries to creating beekeeping collectives for farmers so they can diversify their crops and income. -
responsible sourcing
By using fair and direct trade practices along with oganic farms, Equal Exchange makes sure their supply chains and farms are creating a better place for people and the planet. -
recyclable packaging
Tea and cocoa products come in fully recyclable or compostable packaging. -
low carbon footprint
Equal Exchange uses solar panels on their roasting facility to offset part of their energy use. By partnering with local farmers and gardeners, they turn used burlap bags and chaff from the roasting process into useful growing material. Plus, they compost in their offices.
How to use it

Add milk, or don't add milk. We think you can take your tea however you like.
When you're done...
The box is recyclable in your curbside bin. The teabag is home compostable. And any wrappers can be recycled through TerraCycle by following our special instructions.
These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.
