Classic Spicy Tomato Sauce

Tomato. Onion. Pepper. There’s nothing too complicated about this tangy take on a tried-and-true classic, but this simple blend of homemade taste and a bit of heat is a work of art.
Sustainable goodness
Jar Goods is a female-fronted family business, founded to make real tomato sauces for real (and really conscientious) shoppers.
Why we love it
Forget the cheese. Nix the meatballs. Garlic bread, who needs it? This sauce is so good, you won’t need anything else to enjoy it, but it’s so versatile, it can enhance almost any dish. An assertive mix of peppery spices sharpens that rich, tomato-y sweetness into a dark red sauce that’ll look picturesque spreading across your plate.

How it does good
Making the sauce aisle more mindful
Jar Goods is out to disrupt things with a buyer-focused mission that expands sauce uses and leaves out artificial ingredients. Getting started with an old family recipe, they were selected for the Chobani Food Incubator in 2016. This bolstered their goal to improve the future of the food industry by making things more intuitive, more affordable, and better for the environment. They work with an organic co-packer and, even as a small business, have their eye on giving back to nature-focused nonprofits that benefit real people and the land that makes their food. The sauce aisle will never be the same.

supporting key causes
Even though they’re still growing their business, Jar Goods is committed to finding creative ways to give back. Last year, they partnered with Heifer International, which addresses world hunger by providing livestock and agricultural education to families in need, and donated one baby chick for every $1 coupon used on Jar Goods products. -
responsible sourcing
Jar Goods' products contain no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, and are certified non-GMO. While they're not currently certified organic. -
recyclable packaging
The glass jar and tin lid are 100% recyclable.
How to use it

Sauce isn't just for penne. Heat up this sauce even more with chorizo and onion for a bright and spicy take on shakshuka base. Just add eggs.
When you're done...
