How it does good
Cooking up tradition
Maya Kaimal has had a passion for food and cooking ever since watching Julia Child's The French Chef with her mother and testing her father's vibrant South Indian dishes as a kid. Now, Maya creates good-for-you recipes and products that make the vibrant flavors of India accessible to the western plate—while always staying true to her roots.
Maya Kaimal is picky about what she puts in her food. That's why she only sources clean, full-flavored ingredients that are non-GMO and organic. She approaches her cooking process as if she were in her home kitchen, taking her time to fully develop the flavors, just as Indians have been doing for millennia—rolling up their sleeves, so you don't even have to put on an apron.
Learn MoreThe best thing about Indian food: it's good for our bodies and the planet. Why, you ask? Well, because it's plant-based. Indians figured out the benefits of a plant-based diet long ago when they started making dals, chanas, and countless other vegetarian dishes. No matter your diet, Maya has something vibrant.

About the Brand
Maya Kaimal
Raised on her father's delicious South Indian food, Maya Kaimal noticed the lack of quality Indian products in the grocery stores, so in 2003, she left her publishing job and launched a food business with her husband, out of their Brooklyn apartment. Using her collection of family recipes, she worked to create convenient Indian food that tastes just as good as the homemade version. After Maya's original refrigerated sauces were well received in NYC specialty stores, her line evolved to include shelf stable simmer sauces, dals, chanas, rice and condiments.
