Pumpkin Seed Dark Chocolate Bark

Taza Chocolate

Chocolate should always do two things: please the socks off your taste buds, and bring a smile to your face. This unrefined, minimally-processed bag of stone ground bark passes both tests.

Sustainable goodness

Where your chocolate comes from—and how it was sourced—matters. Taza’s delectable, stone ground organic cacao is traded fairly. Plus, the farmers are treated with respect and paid a fair wage.

Why we love it

The Mayans gave us astronomy, calendars, and hieroglyphics. But we're here to argue that their most important contribution to modern society is stone ground chocolate. Have you tried it? The minimally-processed treat lets cacao really sing, with flavors like roasted nuts and tart fruit peeking through. Taza gives this old tradition a modern spin by adding some of our favorite super food, namely: pumpkin seeds. We're so hooked on this bark we keep going back for "just one more" until the bag is mysteriously empty.

How it does good

From farm to factory: Taza does things the right way

While visiting Oaxaca, Mexico, Alex Whitmore tasted stone ground chocolate for the first time. It was love at first bite, and he knew: he wanted in on the chocolate-making game. But as he dug into the trading and processing practices, Alex was disheartened. Cocoa trading is a booming industry, but farmers and workers at the bottom of the chain don’t feel that same financial “boom.” When Alex started Taza, he committed to transparency every step of the way. Farmers are treated as partners, and Taza shares their success by giving back to local charities.

  • responsible sourcing

Taza says no to opaque supply chains and low-grade cacao. Instead, they source organic, fair trade cacao, paying farmers a fair wage for their labor.
  • supporting key causes

Taza believes in sharing their successes, which is why they donate to various nonprofits and charities. They also send their chocolate to organizations that help low income and at-risk youth.
  • Certified Non-GMO

How to use it

Add this bark to your cheese plate, sprinkle it on vanilla ice cream, or just, you know: eat it.

When you're done...

The plastic pouch is recyclable through TerraCycle by following our special instructions.

These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

About the Brand

Taza Chocolate

Taza Chocolate

Taza founder and CEO Alex Whitmore took his first bite of stone ground chocolate while traveling in Oaxaca, Mexico. He was so inspired by the rustic intensity that he decided to create a chocolate factory back home in Somerville, MA. Alex apprenticed under a molinero in Oaxaca to learn how to hand-carve granite mill stones to make a new kind of American chocolate that is simply crafted, but seriously good. In 2005, he officially launched Taza with his wife, Kathleen Fulton, who is Taza's Chief Design Officer and designed all of the packaging. Taza is a pioneer in ethical cacao sourcing and was the first U.S. chocolate maker to establish a third-party certified Direct Trade Cacao Certification program.
