Toffee Almond & Sea Salt Amaze Chocolate Bar

Sustainable goodness
Where your chocolate comes from—and how it was sourced—matters. Taza’s delectable, stone ground organic cacao is traded fairly. Plus, the farmers are treated with respect and paid a fair wage.
Why we love it
It's easy to be fooled by the size of something (remember the little engine who could?). Take, for example, this chocolate bar. How much flavor could it really have in those palm-sized squares? We're here to tell you: it's a lot. Taza draws on ancient techniques to craft the one-of-a-kind treat. They stone grind the cacao, then essentially leave it alone until it's mixing time. From there, rich bits of toffee, crunchy almonds, and mouthwatering sea salt are introduced. It's one of those best-of-both-worlds bars: sweet yet intense, and smooth yet textured.

How it does good
From farm to factory: Taza does things the right way
While visiting Oaxaca, Mexico, Alex Whitmore tasted stone ground chocolate for the first time. It was love at first bite, and he knew: he wanted in on the chocolate-making game. But as he dug into the trading and processing practices, Alex was disheartened. Cocoa trading is a booming industry, but farmers and workers at the bottom of the chain don’t feel that same financial “boom.” When Alex started Taza, he committed to transparency every step of the way. Farmers are treated as partners, and Taza shares their success by giving back to local charities.
-
responsible sourcing
Taza says no to opaque supply chains and low-grade cacao. Instead, they source organic, fair trade cacao, paying farmers a fair wage for their labor. -
supporting key causes
Taza believes in sharing their successes, which is why they donate to various nonprofits and charities. They also send their chocolate to organizations that help low income and at-risk youth.
How to use it
We won't lie to you, breaking up bits to go on your ice cream is a true delight. But also: snacking on a few squares after dinner with make your heart sing.
When you're done...
The paper is recyclable in a curbside bin, but the wax-lined foil should be thrown in the trash for now while the company works on a better solution.
These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

About the Brand
Taza Chocolate
Taza Chocolate
Taza founder and CEO Alex Whitmore took his first bite of stone ground chocolate while traveling in Oaxaca, Mexico. He was so inspired by the rustic intensity that he decided to create a chocolate factory back home in Somerville, MA. Alex apprenticed under a molinero in Oaxaca to learn how to hand-carve granite mill stones to make a new kind of American chocolate that is simply crafted, but seriously good. In 2005, he officially launched Taza with his wife, Kathleen Fulton, who is Taza's Chief Design Officer and designed all of the packaging. Taza is a pioneer in ethical cacao sourcing and was the first U.S. chocolate maker to establish a third-party certified Direct Trade Cacao Certification program.
