Coated in a seasoning that'll make you drool, these BBQ chips are a fan favorite. You'd never know it, but they're made with "ugly" potatoes that would otherwise be thrown away.

Sustainable goodness

Uglies lowers their carbon footprint by using locally-sourced "ugly" potatoes that would otherwise be thrown in landfills. They also run a zero-waste facility, diverting over 200 tons of waste from the landfill to be combusted for energy recovery.

Why we love it

Food waste is hard to swallow. You know what's not? These chips. They're made from "ugly" potatoes that would otherwise be thrown away. Uglies seasons their BBQ chips to perfection with a healthy sprinkling of tangy, sweet, salty flavor. We break out a bag whenever we're grilling out or need a side for our sandwich. In other words: for every eating occasion.

How it does good

Finding a new use for unwanted potatoes

Uglies is a family-run company in Berks County, Pennsylvania. They make their chips from locally-grown potatoes that can't be sold to grocers because of how they look. By doing this, Uglies keeps tons of waste out of our landfills. Their manufacturing facility is also zero-waste and landfill-free. Every year, they send over 200 tons of waste to a local incinerator where it is converted into energy. Another way they keep their carbon footprint low is by manufacturing everything on-site at their plant. This way, they cut down on their transit time and in turn, their use of fossil fuels.

  • responsible sourcing

"Ugly" potatoes are sourced from regional farms who would otherwise have to throw them away.
  • low carbon footprint

Uglies has a zero-waste, landfill-free manufacturing model. They keep over 200 tons of waste out of the landfill every year.
  • Certified Non-GMO

How to use it

Grilling out? Having a picnic? Break out this bag of heavenly, tangy BBQ chips.

When you're done...

About the Brand

UGLIES® Kettle Cooked Potato Chips are chips crafted from potatoes with minor cosmetic imperfections. This includes potatoes that are too large or too small, those with the wrong color, or ones that have the wrong sugar content. Some of the potatoes are slightly blemished and, of course, some are just farmer surplus. Until now, these orphaned potatoes were destined to become food waste. UGLIES has helped to reduce food waste by saving over 1,500,000 pounds of potatoes since 2017.

So good and crunchy

I got my box. It was lunch time when I opened it and I grabbed the BBQ chips. So yummy. Hit the spot. Had a serving and I'll hit that bag tomorrow , lol. The box had everything so nicely placed. I love the recycled packaging. Put my paper parts to be use in the campfire this spring. The rest I use for projects. Thanks for helping us help the earth .
