Ingredient Integrity

A certified B-Corp, Dr. Bronner’s has created or partnered with fair trade and organic projects all over the world. This means they are actively partnering with their supplier farmers and working to improve the communities in which they operate, including ensuring fair wages and ethical treatment for employees. Additionally, they choose to source their cocoa from organic, fair trade and regenerative smallholder projects in Ghana and Ivory Coast because soils in those countries contain lower levels of naturally present heavy metals. Dr. Bronner's' products do not contain ingredients on Hive's No Good, Dirty Rotten list of banned and watch list ingredients.

Responsible Production

Dr. Bronner's is 100% renewably-powered and their goal is to become climate positive by 2025, plastic neutral by 2023, and a Zero Waste business (i.e. less than 1% of waste going to landfill) by 2023. Their products are also tested to ensure levels in finished products are well below safety guidelines. Dr. Bronner's does not test their soap products for contaminants. They do test their chocolate products for heavy metals.

Clean Packaging

Dr. Bronner's exclusively uses 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles, half of which comes from plastic collected in curbside recycling programs Most of the plastic picked up on curbsides is “downcycled” and shipped to countries like China, where it’s used to create synthetic fabrics for carpets and clothes, then shipped back to the United States for sale. Dr. Bronner's "bottle-to-bottle" recycling helps to close the loop and results in fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

Leading Change

Dr. Bronner’s donates roughly 1/3 of their profits to charitable and activist. Their giving spans the globe through their All-One International initiative and in partnership with the Rodale Institute and Patagonia, they established the Regenerative Organic Alliance and created the Regenerative Organic Certification standard.

Our team personally tests every product to make sure it’s good enough to end up in your home, not a landfill.

Goldie

How it does good

Dr. Bronner's is fighting for a marketplace where consumers are not misled into purchasing synthetic-laden products masquerading as certified organic personal care. Emanuel Bronner, the man behind the brand, believed that a company has a responsibility to "Share the profits with the workers and the earth from which you made it!" His son Ralph called this approach Constructive Capitalism and they practice it in every aspect of their business - ;from the products they make, throughout their supply chains, to their dedicated activism and charitable giving, and more. They build personal relationships with organic farmers and producers to create equitable supply chains. This includes fair prices for farmers, living wages and excellent working conditions for workers, investment in communities, and respect for land and people.

How to Use

Apply to dry, achy skin anywhere on your body. For tattoo care, wash your tattoo with one of Dr. Bronner's castile or bar soaps, then pat the area dry and apply a thin layer of magic balm over the tattoo.

Recycling

The tin is recyclable in a curbside bin.

These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

Dr. Bronner's

Known for their iconic labels and cultish following, household name Dr. Bronner’s was founded in 1948 by Emanuel Bronner, a third-generation master soapmaker and activist. He used the labels to spread the message of our transcendent unity across religious & ethnic divides: “We are All-One or None!” Still family-owned and run, Dr. Bronner’s honors their founder’s vision by making socially & environmentally responsible products of the highest quality—and by dedicating their profits to help make a better world.
