Harvested later in the season, Second Flush is the most commonly available variety of Darjeeling Tea. The longer growing season gives it a stronger, more robust flavor (and more caffeine!), allowing it to hold its own to a splash of your milk of choice.

Darjeeling tea has a floral taste all to itself, which comes from the unique terroir of the region of the Himalayas where it grows. While not as robust as the teas grown in Assam, this certified organic and biodynamic Darjeeling is an excellent pick-me-up any time of day.

Alaya Tea sources their small-batch teas from organic and biodynamic farms in India, and their packaging is plastic-free and compostable.

Good news! This packaging is industrially compostable. Find a composter near you at www.findacomposter.com. Otherwise, the bag should be placed in the garbage bin.
These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

How it does good

Making tea kinder for the environment

There’s a big problem with our little tea bags. While tea bags can be a convenient option for tea time, most of them are made with plastic and nylon-based fibers, which in turn contributes to our world's massive waste problem. This is why Alaya is committed to the freshest loose leaf teas, ordered seasonally and in small batches. They directly source all of their teas and herbals from organic, biodynamic, and regenerative farms that have additional certifications on top of USDA organic: Demeter Certified Biodynamic for their tea estates and Regenerative Organic Certified for their herbals.
