Alaya Tea sources from certified organic and biodynamic farms that practice regenerative agriculture, which improves soil health and helps sequester carbon. They also combat climate change by planting trees to prevent landslides and runoff and leaving areas for forestry. Alaya Tea's products do not contain ingredients on Hive's No Good, Dirty Rotten list of banned and watch list ingredients.
All of Alaya Tea's ingredients are sourced from Fair Trade or Fair for Life farms, which means the farmers are paid a fair wage for their products and treated properly. Alaya Tea tests their products for pesticide residues and their suppliers test for heavy metals.
Alaya Tea’s packaging is fully plastic-free and compostable (ink and the labels too), complete with a bio-based zipper closure.
Alaya Tea has partnered with Aarohi, a NGO at the base of the Himalayas, to support female farmers in the region.

While tea bags can be a convenient option for tea time, most of them are made with plastic and nylon-based fibers, which in turn contributes to our world's massive waste problem. This is why Alaya is committed to the freshest loose leaf teas, ordered seasonally and in small batches. Picked fresh and sent in small batches, their loose leaf teas celebrate simple and pure ingredients, free of added flavorings, fragrances, and preservatives. They directly source all of their teas and herbals from organic, biodynamic, and regenerative farms that have additional certifications on top of USDA organic: Demeter Certified Biodynamic for their tea estates and Regenerative Organic Certified for their herbals.

Alaya Tea
Alaya Tea is an Indian women-owned loose leaf tea company that sources organic and biodynamic teas from planet-friendly farms in India. Their name comes from "Himalaya," a region that grows some of the finest teas in the world.
After growing up on a daily ritual of drinking chai, traveling in the Himalayan region, and visiting small farmers and tea estates, co-founders Esha Chhabra and Smita Satiani wanted to build a company that would respect these communities and address the environmental challenges of agriculture.
Today, Alaya Tea’s mission is to invest in Indian farmers who are pioneering the organic and regenerative movement, celebrate women that are the backbone of the tea industry, and elevate tea-drinking culture in the United States.
