Tony's Chocolonely

Milk. Honey. Almond. Nougat. Even the words themselves almost swell up and drip sweetness as you say them. With the right combination of each component, this is one delectable bar of chocolate.

Sustainable goodness

Tony's Chocolonely was founded with the goal to end forced child labor and enslavement on cocoa farms in Ghana and Ivory Coast.

Why we love it

Life is filled with choices. But here comes a chocolate bar that doesn't make you choose. Looking for a chewy, sticky honey nougat? Look right here. Craving a crunch of almond? Check. Then there's the sweet, creamy milk chocolate. Bold flavors come to the surface of this brightly packaged chocolate bar with each and every bite. So leave the tough choices for your day job, this chocolate will never make you choose.

How it does good

Investing in a better future for all people

Across cocoa supply chains, things are not happening fairly. In fact, they're downright unethical, and Tony's Chocolonely is not afraid to call it out. Chocolate is enjoyed all around the globe, but the regions producing cocoa are subject to poverty and forced labor due to the demand to keep cocoa purchasing prices as low as possible for big chocolate distributors. Tony's is leading by example to do things differently. They're using 100% traceable beans, paying higher prices for their cocoa, and building strong relationships with their farmers in an effort balance the system. The fight to do good doesn't stop there though. Tony's also uses sustainable practices on their farms to protect the rainforest and improve agricultural ecology.

  • responsible sourcing

On top of everything else they do, they've paid the Walk Free Foundation and Tulane University to research their value chain for any possibilities of forced labor or exploitation. They are constantly working to maintain their high standards and achieve something better for everyone.
  • supporting key causes

Tony's Chocolonely is a committed advocate for human rights. In addition to all of the hard work they're doing to end slave labor in the cocoa industry, they also work with their farms for at least 5 years to ensure longer term success for their farmers.
  • low carbon footprint

Tony's offsets their carbon emissions through Justdiggit.
  • recyclable packaging

The chocolate packaging is 100% recyclable.

How to use it

This bar can easily become homemade fudge. Just melt about 12oz of it over medium heat with a 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk (and butter, or cocoa powder, or vanilla—your choice). Then spread it out and chill it. Ta-da. Honey almond nougat fudge.

When you're done...

Good news! This packaging is 100% curbside recyclable.

These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

About the Brand

Tony's Chocolonely

Tony's Chocolonely

Tony’s is committed to making the universe of chocolate production fair and equitable for all involved, particularly the farmers and the people working on cocoa farms in West Africa. Their Chocolate Colony is rooted in five sourcing principles: traceable beans, higher prices (they pay a greater premium than the Fair Trade premium), strong farmers, long-term investment (at least five years), and better quality and productivity on the farms. They do incredible work to make incredible chocolate—some of our favorite flavors are white chocolate raspberry, dark milk chocolate + pretzel, and milk chocolate caramel + sea salt.

My new favorite!

This was some of the best chocolate I've ever had! I can't wait to try the other flavors!

Has me liking chocolate a little more.

I’m one of those rare people who don’t care for chocolate and can only take it in very small doses and with other things mixed in to break up the total chocolate onslaught. To my surprise, I bought a couple of these bars for a little gift for my daughter-n-law who is an admitted chocoholic, but I didn’t realize that she doesn’t like nuts. So I was left with a chocolate bar and I hate waste so I forced myself to give it a go and I’m glad I did. It’s delicious although I don’t think I would have tried it if it were dark chocolate because I can’t even swallow that for some reason.
