Bug Repellent Stick

Sustainable goodness
Personal care products are often laden with synthetic ingredients and dyes that our body can’t distinguish. Chagrin Valley is changing all of that with their 100% organic, non-GMO products made with locally-sourced, minimally-processed ingredients.
Why we love it
Plants have been protecting themselves from insects since the beginning of time. Chagrin Valley is harnessing the power of plants to repel insects naturally. Recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an alternative to DEET, you know this natural repellent stick is the real deal. The shea butter and jojoba oil soothes and softens your skin while essential oils like lemon eucalyptus keep away those pesky bugs.

How it does good
Quality personal care products made with local, organic ingredients
Let’s get one thing straight before we dive into Chagrin Valley’s admirable practices: their #1 goal is to offer top-quality natural skin care for you. How do they do it? By sourcing local, organic ingredients that are minimally processed and free from any synthetics, dyes, or chemicals. They don’t stop at the products either. Chagrin uses 99% plastic-free, recyclable packaging. Most of that packaging is also made with recycled paper or steel. Because it isn’t enough to just keep you clean, Chagrin Valley is dedicated to keeping our earth clean, too.
-
responsible sourcing
Chagrin Valley sources ingredients from local farmers, small businesses, and companies known for their environmental stewardship. Every product is guaranteed USDA organic, non-GMO, and fair trade certified. -
low carbon footprint
Co-founders Ida and Sam search for ingredients locally first. They call this idea “Local Symbiosis,” where brands in northern Ohio can work together to reduce waste and rely on each other to create quality goods. Chagrin Valley products incorporate locally-grown grains, beer, coffee, and goats milk. -
supporting key causes
Chagrin Valley goes above and beyond to support communities at the local and national level. They sponsor a number of charities that provide necessities to underserved populations. They also donate 1% of profits to The Western Reserve Land Conservancy's Urban Reforestry Project, which helps make inner-city neighborhoods greener. -
recyclable packaging
All packaging is over 99% plastic-free. Chagrin Valley opts for cardboard made from recycled paper or recycled tin-plated steel. Even better: you can recycle all empty Chagrin Valley products in your curbside bin.
How to use it

Apply to exposed skin and pulse points on your body where the scent can last longer: behind the ear, on the wrists, inside the elbow, or behind the knees. Most effective if applied about 5 minutes before venturing outside. For small children and those with sensitive skin, we recommend doing a patch test before use. Avoid contact with eyes, and in case of eye contact, wash eyes with plenty of water.
When you're done...
Good news! Once empty, the cardboard canister is curbside recyclable, and it's also home compostable.
These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.
