Classic Red Tomato Sauce

Jar Goods

Not all of us can have a sauce extraordinaire in the family, but luckily, there’s this rich, pleasingly acidic sauce, bringing new meaning to the word "classic." Just like grandma used to make.

Sustainable goodness

Jar Goods is a female-fronted family business, founded to make real tomato sauces for real (and really conscientious) shoppers.

Why we love it

Your pantry has never looked better than with this bright, marvelously red tomato sauce, ladled into a glass container. Every jar is packed to the lid with thick, smooth sauce you’ll want to eat by the spoonful. Tart, tangy tomato meets sweet, pungent basil and just the right amount of nutty garlic.

How it does good

Making the sauce aisle more mindful

Jar Goods is out to disrupt things with a buyer-focused mission that expands sauce uses and leaves out artificial ingredients. Getting started with an old family recipe, they were selected for the Chobani Food Incubator in 2016. This bolstered their goal to improve the future of the food industry by making things more intuitive, more affordable, and better for the environment. They work with an organic co-packer and, even as a small business, have their eye on giving back to nature-focused nonprofits that benefit real people and the land that makes their food. The sauce aisle will never be the same.

  • supporting key causes

Even though they’re still growing their business, Jar Goods is committed to finding creative ways to give back. Last year, they partnered with Heifer International, which addresses world hunger by providing livestock and agricultural education to families in need, and donated one baby chick for every $1 coupon used on Jar Goods products.
  • responsible sourcing

Jar Goods' products contain no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, and are certified non-GMO. While they're not currently certified organic.
  • recyclable packaging

The glass jar and tin lid are 100% recyclable.
  • Certified Non-GMO

How to use it

Sauce isn't just for spaghetti. Sauté this with green beans and red pepper flakes, then spoon it onto toast for a comfortingly crusty vegan snack.

When you're done...

Good news! This packaging is 100% curbside recyclable.

About the Brand

Jar Goods

Jar Goods

It started with $150 and a dream: to create a delicious, wholesome tomato sauce that was good enough to use on everything. Dismayed by what was available at the grocery store, Laura and Melissa began by bottling their father's tomato sauce by hand and selling it at farmers markets. They believe in the idea of Better Food for More People, learned during their year with the Chobani Incubator program, and are working to help busy people who don't have time to cook from scratch by creating high quality convenient options.

All Day Flavor from a Jar!

Hi Hive! It's Kate from the Merch team. Jar Goods makes one of the only jarred tomato sauces I'll buy. I'm usually one for making my own, but when I don't have the time - or, who are we kidding, the energy - to start from scratch early in the day, Jar Goods is the answer. I like tossing it with pasta or even using it to make a bit of a cheater chicken parm.
