How it does good
Since plastic packaging came to prominence, we've made, used, and disposed of more than 8.3 billion tons of the stuff. Over 90 percent has gone unrecycled, often ending up in landfills, oceans, and animals' bellies. One of the main culprits? The beauty industry. And then HiBAR came along. Developed by 4 friends with a passion for great smells, healthy hair, and, most importantly, plastic-free products, they've cut out plastic packaging entirely, modeling their haircare products on the bars of soap we've been using for years. Also free from sulfates, parabens, and silicones, and packed instead with plant-based ingredients, HiBAR is committed to leading by example with salon-quality, eco-friendly products, made with the earth in mind.

A few years back, four friends got talking one night and realized they’d all been working separately on the same project: getting rid of plastic in the bathroom. So with that in mind, they officially banded together to re-engineer how people wash and care for their hair. After working with a team of hair care professionals (and a lot of trial and error), HiBAR was born. Solid shampoos and conditioners that skip the need for plastic packaging. No plastic. I love this shampoo bar, don't miss the liquid shampoo at all and won't be going back to it. When I first tried this shampoo bar I was surprised that it looked smaller than I expected, but after trying it, turns out the bar lasts a long time. Some of the reviewers didn't like the scent of this bar, but I find it pleasant. Bar lathers up easily. After using this a few times it starts to develop a flat spot, which I find makes it easier to hold and use; not sure why they settled on the rounded shape for this bar. I saved the waved paper wrapper it comes in, and set it on that to let it dry out between uses...works great for me.

Due to scalp issues I have to wash with shampoo daily or suffer itchy rash. Since I started using this product I can go 3 days without washing, this is healthier for my wavy hair that's usually frizzy and dry. No rash, don't need to use my tar shampoo anymore. Thank you.

I'm so impressed with the Hive Bar. This is the first bar shampoo I've tried, and I had all of the same concerns everyone else does -- will the bar last as long as traditional shampoo or will I have to keep buying new bars was more often? Does it even clean your hair that well? I waited a while to post a review because I wanted to find the answers to these questions. I bought a shampoo bar and conditioner set in April 2021. I just finished with the bar and still have a while to go with the conditioner bar. I wash my hair about 3 times a week, and my husband would use the bar occasionally (maybe once or twice a week). I keep my bars on the window ledge in the shower, which doesn't receive any direct water. I replaced the shampoo with Hive's blue Moisturize shampoo bar. I found that the green Maintain bar lathered up much much better, and I prefer it to the blue Moisturize bar. With liquid shampoo, my routine was always to wash twice to get a good lather, but I never had to do that with the green Maintain bar. I was honestly surprised that it would be better than traditional shampoo in that way! It is true that the conditioner bar and shampoo bar are both green, but I never had trouble telling them apart because the conditioner bar is more "shiny" and the shampoo bar is more "matte". Plus, I just keep the shampoo on the left and the conditioner on the right, so it wasn't really difficult to keep them apart. I highly recommend the Hive bar (especially the green Maintain bar!)
