Why we love it

Rob, our Creative Director, calls this his all-time favorite. Balanced. Not too sweet, not too spicy, just perfectly balanced. It's like this chai tea concentrate actually knows exactly what you look for in your chai. We know even the pickiest chai-lovers will be excited about this one (because our pickiest chai-lovers were into it).

How it does good

The story starts with ingredients

Tea and spices can be high risk categories when it comes to traceability and origin. Dona is working toward 100% single origin or directly traded ingredients, and they're committed to doing more for transparency in the spice industry. They deal directly with farmers in collectives across the globe to ensure the people who grow their ingredients are paid fairly. Plus, they divert over 400 gallons of food scraps a week from landfills by sending them to McEnroe Farm in New York for composting.

  • responsible sourcing

The black pepper is organically grown by a cooperative of small farmers in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and the turmeric is hand-picked at William Flores's farm in Guirruca, Nicaragua. They're also a leading company in direct sourcing of spices from all over the world. They make sure to pay farmers higher wages, and pride themselves on knowing where their spices come from.
  • low carbon footprint

They're currently working towards 100% zero waste brewing and are actively limiting synthetics and single-use plastics in their production. Instead of polyester-based tape, they’ve switched to paper packing tape, and their signature glass bottles are reusable as flower vases, soap dispensers and to-go water bottles.
  • Certified Non-GMO

How to use it

Mix equal parts DONA concentrate and milk. Heat, steam or pour over ice.

When you're done...

The bottle is curbside recyclable, and the cap can be recycled through TerraCycle by following our special instructions.

These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

I'm a very picky person, especially when it comes to my chai. It's too sweet, too "manufactured" or too spicy. Once I went DONA, I couldn't go back. It's honestly the perfect balance between spice and sweetness. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and now I feel like I have my own barista in the kitchen. It couldn't be easier to make a hot or cold latte. And, what makes it even sweeter, I don't have to waste paper cups. The beautiful glass container looks great on my shelf and is fully recyclable. If you're a chai-lover, I highly recommend this (and the turmeric one too!).
