Recycle the outer box in a curbside bin. Compost the wrappers at home or an industrial facility (www.findacomposter.com). The pads should be thrown away for now, but the company is working on other solutions.
These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

How it does good
Championing better period care
Disposable period options, like pads and tampons, contribute huge amounts of waste, and they're often made with plastics that take hundreds of years to break down. But not everyone wants to or can use reusable products, which is why joni crafts a more sustainable disposable option, so people can reduce their carbon footprint while menstruating.
joni's period care products don't contain toxic chemicals or irritating fragrances. joni is transparent about its materials, and aims to use sustainable materials and processes that follow strict certifications. For instance, joni's pads use ethically-sourced FSC certified bamboo, which uses less water to grow and doesn't require pesticides.Learn More
joni's wrappers are TUV certified compostable, and can be cut up and placed in a home compost. In the right compost conditions, the packaging will break down within 12 months.Learn More
low carbon footprint
joni's period care products are organic and compostable, and are designed to be around 92% biodegradable in 12 months under standard compost conditions. Their products don't use petroleum-based plastic, and therefore won't break down into micro-plastics in a landfill like conventional plastic pads and tampon applicators.Learn More
supporting key causes
Through joni's 5% for Period Equity mission, joni works with non-profits across Canada to provide people who need period care with safe, organic, and accessible disposable options. Since their launch in 2020, they've donated over 101,000 pads across Canada. Aside from product donations, they also help fund educational programs and research initiatives that focus on period inequity.Learn More
