How it does good

Dairy production often leads to food waste and negative environmental impacts, not to mention questions about chemical additives and animal welfare. With this in mind, Henry Schwartz reinvented his family dairy, in business for just shy of a century, as a maker of plant-based dairy alternatives. Elmhurst 1925 began with its distinctive HydroReleaseâ„¢; process, which crafts nutrient-rich, nut, grain, and seed-based milks using only water. And that's not all. Everything Elmhurst makes with this process is either sold or used in other products, meaning zero waste. Their facility is hydro-powered, their plant sources are fully traceable, and their packaging is 100% recyclable.

Elmhurst 1925

When the original Elmhurst Dairy closed its doors in Queens in 2016, Henry Schwartz moved his father’s company to Buffalo and reimagined it to embrace the future of milk: plant-based dairy. Using a game-changing process developed by food technologist Dr. Cheryl Mitchell, Elmhurt 1925 uses more of the source grain, nut, or seed, and the finished product is superior nutrition and flavor with fewer ingredients.
