Unsweetened Milked Walnuts
17 reviews

Move over, almonds and cashews, there’s a new plant-based milk in town. We love walnuts for their earthy, slightly bitter flavor—not to mention their textured ridges and soft crunch. This milk certainly isn’t crunchy, but it takes the most satisfying parts of walnuts, from a simple earthy taste to the beautiful depth of color, and turns them into a beverage you’ll love to watch flow into your glass.

How it does good
NYC’s last dairy goes plant-based
Dairy production often leads to food waste and negative environmental impacts, not to mention questions about chemical additives and animal welfare. With this in mind, Henry Schwartz reinvented his family dairy, in business for just shy of a century, as a maker of plant-based dairy alternatives. Elmhurst 1925 began with its distinctive HydroRelease™ process, which crafts nutrient-rich, nut, grain, and seed-based milks using only water. And that’s not all. Everything Elmhurst makes with this process is either sold or used in other products, meaning zero waste. Their facility is hydro-powered, their plant sources are fully traceable, and their packaging is 100% recyclable.
Elmhurst began as a hand-bottled, hand-delivered milk producer, and they’re hanging onto that simplicity today. They source all their nuts, seeds, and grains from North American farmers (except for their cashews). Their oat farmers agree not to use Glyphosate, a toxic herbicide commonly used to curb weed and grass growth, on any of their crops. Elmhurst also uses hydropower in their plant and aseptic packaging to keep their products free from preservatives.
Learn MoreThey regularly donate their products to food banks, hospitals, shelters, first responders, and the NAACP. Their Mission Transition is rallying others to replace dairy and meat with plant-based alternatives.
Learn MoreBecause they remove the environmental impact of animal agriculture, greenhouse gases, and heavy land and water use, plant-based foods often have a lower carbon footprint.
Learn MoreElmhurst's cartons are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and are 100% curbside recyclable.

About the Brand
Elmhurst 1925
When the original Elmhurst Dairy closed its doors in Queens in 2016, Henry Schwartz moved his father’s company to Buffalo and reimagined it to embrace the future of milk: plant-based dairy. Using a game-changing process developed by food technologist Dr. Cheryl Mitchell, Elmhurt 1925 uses more of the source grain, nut, or seed, and the finished product is superior nutrition and flavor with fewer ingredients.
How to use
We love combining walnut milk with actual walnuts (and sugar, butter, and lemon juice) for a walnut caramel sauce that pairs perfectly with non-dairy ice cream.

Dairy Free Milk
Really enjoyed this nutty milk!

Love this, but not 100% curbside recyclable everywhere
As much as I love this product, I've stopped buying it because it is cumbersome to get the packaging recycled. This product is *not* curbside recyclable everywhere; Vermont, and many other states, do not have the facilities to allow for this kind of multilayer paper packaging to be curbside recycled. Be sure to check https://www.recyclecartons.com/ as to whether your community has the proper facilities to recycle this packaging.
