Why we love it

When you introduce top-notch sesame seeds to premium cocoa, magic happens. Utter sweet and savory perfection, this chocolate tahini will change the way you snack and bake. And made with only three ingredients, every serving of this stuff has half the sugar of regular chocolate spreads. Long live, chocolate. Long live, tahini.

How it does good

Nuts for tahini

Single-origin products come with an array of advantages including full transparency and higher quality products. Because you should have full knowledge of where your food comes from, Soom makes their tahinis from a single region in Ethiopia. And they make their tahini with only the best white Humera sesame seeds that have the ideal oil to “meat” ratio. Best of all, tahini is a nutrient-dense superfood that can be enjoyed by multiple dietary crowds: dairy-free, nut-free, gluten-free, vegan, keto, paleo-friendly, and kosher.

  • responsible sourcing

Soom sources their sesame seeds from their partner farms and friends throughout Ethiopia including the regions of Tigray and Humera. And through their trips to meet workers in person, they saw the key role that the sesame industry plays in making a living, especially as many people travel far to make a profit during harvest time.
  • supporting key causes

A firm believer in giving back and supporting communities, Soom is contributing to food education and initiatives for students, especially in underserved communities. On a quarterly basis, Soom donates time, products, and funds to organizations including Emma's Torch, C-CAP (Careers Through Culinary Arts Program), WITS (Wellness in the Schools), and JRA (Jewish Relief Agency).
  • recyclable packaging

Soom's plastic jars are curbside recyclable.

How to use it

Use as a sweet dip for fruit or pretzels, mix into smoothies, or spread on toast. Also perfect in baked goods or as an ice cream topping.

When you're done...

Rinse the jar and place it in a curbside recycling bin. The lid is recyclable through TerraCycle by following our special instructions.

These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

About the Brand

Growing up, the three “Soom Sisters," Shelby, Jackie, and Amy, knew what tahini was from eating hummus or seeing the dusty old can of it in the back of their kitchen pantry. Little did they know tahini would become their passion and their life.

The sisters combined their skills and passions to create a business founded on a love for food, family, and community. In 2013, Soom Foods, a certified women-owned company, was born. Since then, Soom has been dedicated to bringing some of the world’s most flavorful foods to our kitchen and to yours.

Smooth and yummy!

A delicious alternative to the chocolate hazelnut spreads! Reminiscent of halvah - but spreadable.
