Ingredient Integrity

The tiny but mighty sesame seed is considered a superfood since it's crammed with vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and plant-based protein. Soom sources their sesame seeds from regions where the soil and weather conditions are perfect for producing plump seeds with a mild, nutty flavor. Soom's products do not contain ingredients on Hive's No Good, Dirty Rotten list of banned and watch list ingredients.

Responsible Production

Sesame is a drought tolerant crop and uses 800 gallons less water per pound to produce than almonds. Sesame stalks also don't require special machinery to harvest and are instead hand-cut and shaken. Soom tests their products for allergens.

Clean Packaging

Soom's plastic jars are curbside recyclable and BPA-Free.

Leading Change

A firm believer in giving back and supporting communities, Soom is contributing to food education and initiatives for students, especially in underserved communities.

Goldie

How it does good

Soom makes their tahini with only the best white Humera sesame seeds that have the ideal oil to "meat" ratio. Best of all, tahini is a nutrient-dense superfood that can be enjoyed by multiple dietary crowds: dairy-free, nut-free, gluten-free, vegan, keto, paleo-friendly, and kosher.

How to Use

Beyond hummus, tahini is the perfect base for dressings and sauces. And it makes soups and smoothies extra creamy, and baked goods super moist and rich. Soom Tahini keeps best in the pantry for easy spreading or in the fridge if you prefer a more frosting-like consistency. Stir before using for the best results.

Recycling

Rinse the jar and place it in a curbside recycling bin. The lid is recyclable through TerraCycle by following our special instructions.

These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

Soom

Growing up, the three “Soom Sisters," Shelby, Jackie, and Amy, knew what tahini was from eating hummus or seeing the dusty old can of it in the back of their kitchen pantry. Little did they know tahini would become their passion and their life.

The sisters combined their skills and passions to create a business founded on a love for food, family, and community. In 2013, Soom Foods, a certified women-owned company, was born. Since then, Soom has been dedicated to bringing some of the world’s most flavorful foods to our kitchen and to yours.
