How it does good
Almost 270 species have been affected by plastic pollution, primarily from single-use bags. What's more, Americans toss 40 million tons of food each year, a whole bunch of it produce that went bad in the fridge or on the counter. Vejibag is out to extend the shelf life of fruits and veggies (meaning less waste), and, by cutting out single-use plastic, it's extending the life of our planet. Created by Sally Erickson as an eco-friendly, freshness solution for her local co-op, the Vejibag went from a living room project to a community endeavor to the star of a sustainable business. Free from dyes and other chemicals, the organic cotton used in their bags is fully traceable and hand-sewn at worker-owned Opportunity Threads in North Carolina.
