We're sure our teachers had the best intentions when warning us of the dangers of eating paste. But we're also pretty sure they did not mean this paste. It's a gorgeously aromatic, smoky-sugary vanilla, made from the best ingredients and a traditional recipe for a "ground" texture, that just begs to be eaten.

Ingredients

Organic Vanilla Extract, Organic Cane Sugar, Water, Organic Vanilla Beans, Gum Tragacanth (A Natural Thickener)

How to Use

Swap this paste in 1:1 for traditional vanilla extract.

Recycling

Good news! The glass bottle and metal lid are 100% curbside recyclable. The plastic freshness seal is recyclable through TerraCycle by following our special instructions.

These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

How it does good

"Vanilla" is often synonymous with simple, neutral, or boring. But the vanilla bean is one of the hardest crops to grow. It only flowers once a year and has to be picked, by hand, right away. Eighty percent of vanilla comes from Madagascar, where its been painstakingly harvested for generations. But, at the same time, almost 80% of the people in the country, vanilla farmers included, are living in poverty. The Vanilla Bean Project set out to change this, with a commitment to buying from small-batch, women-owned makers, breaking the tradition of a few vanilla companies monopolizing the market and selling their extract for high prices the growers don't see. The result is a high-quality extract that ensures financial security for the farmers, suppliers, and communities it comes from.

Vanilla Bean Project

Vanilla Bean Project wants to provide a better option for vanilla the same way industry leaders are providing fair-trade coffee and slavery-free cocoa. Vanilla is probably already in your pantry, but the founders of Vanilla Bean Project want you to join them in changing the old ways for the better. By using quality vanilla beans that come directly from local grower cooperatives and women-owned businesses in Madagascar, they're setting new standards for an old business.
