Talk about an epic origin story. This honey comes from one of the most isolated islands in the world, where a family of beekeepers operate an organic apiary nestled on the slopes of Mauna Kea, Hawaii's tallest volcano. It's made in small batches without the use of heat, straining, or filtration, locking in nourishing enzymes and small grains of pollen. Use it in drinks, soups, glazes, and more.
Good news! Separate the glass jar and metal lid and recycle both in a curbside bin. The plastic freshness seal is recyclable through TerraCycle by following our special instructions.
These are general guidelines for broadly-recyclable materials. Check with your local recycler to confirm what they take.

Nourishment with integrity
Many food manufacturers don't work directly with farmers, which can make it hard to know where your food comes from and how it's grown. Hummingbird is a family-owned organic food company that brings humanity into their business relationships. They take great care in building long-term relationships with farmers, suppliers, and other partners, and specialize in sourcing farm-direct, quality ingredients grown in the Pacific Northwest. So you can always know how your food got to your table.
Hummingbird works closely with farmers to provide ingredients that are single-sourced from one family farm, organic, and helpful to people and the planet. They call what they do: "Distributor Supported Agriculture" (DSA)—supporting farmers through planning crop plantings, contracting planted acreage for more economic reliability, and helping farmers with marketing and distribution.
Learn MoreAs a small family-owned company, Hummingbird is taking big steps to achieve a tiny footprint. They deliver locally to Eugene area stores by bike, and practice a zero waste policy in their building. Their heating and cooling systems are also designed for energy conservation.
Learn More1% of Hummingbird's annual profits go toward organic research, educational programs for farmers and trade partners, and organizations focused on creating organic food systems. Previous organizations include Black Star Farmers, Warm Springs Reservation, CORE Eugene, and Lunch People.
