Hive Five™ Certified
No need to guess what's in your food or how it was made. Our experts vet every product for ingredient integrity, responsible sourcing, and great taste using our own criteria called the Hive Five.
Ingredient
Integrity
Every ingredient sourced is certified authentic by the supplier before Bathing Culture accepts an order, so you can trust the ingredient list. They're also verified to be safe for aquatic ecosystems, able to readily decompose, and safe for outdoor use Bathing Culture's products do not contain ingredients on Hive's No Good, Dirty Rotten list of banned and watch list ingredients.
Responsible Production
Bathing Culture's soap products are certified by Leaping Bunny, which confirms that they are cruelty free and were never tested on animals. Bathing Culture tests their products for allergens and their supplies test for heavy metals, pesticide residues, and mycotoxins.
Clean Packaging
Bathing Culture's recyclable and refillable HDPE bottles are made in California as close to their production facilities as possible. Their packaging is made with recycled materials and responsible production practices. Their HDPE bottles are less likely to shed microplastics because of their inert composition.
Leading Change
Bathing Culture is a Public Benefit Corporation, which means they're committed to having a positive impact through their business. For every 5 gallons of soap sold, Bathing Culture plants a tree to offset their production and shipping emissions. Additionally, they donate to DIGDEEP, a human rights nonprofit that brings clean, running water into American homes and invests in research, advocacy, and workforce development to close the Water Gap.
Rave Worthy
Our team personally tests every product to make sure it’s good enough to end up in your home, not a landfill.

Bathing Culture
Tim Hollinger and Spencer Arnold think that the act of bathing should be celebrated, especially when you use products crafted with the radical belief that they can be good for you and the planet. Tim and Spencer spend their spare time exploring Northern California's forest (and getting pretty dirty while doing so). Conventional personal care products that don't work and pollute waterways simply didn't cut it, so they created a brand to spread joy and peace through bath products that minimally impact waterways, soil and climate. Their products are plant-forward, recyclable, refillable and inspired by the wildlands of California.
