How it does good
The truth is, nuts use up a lot of water: it takes one gallon of water to grow a single almond. That's why Barney Butter ensures that their almond farmers and suppliers practice the most advanced drip and spot irrigation systems that use only as much water as each tree needs. Irrigation is scheduled based on factors like soil or weather conditions to maximize the yield and quality of the almond while minimizing negative impacts on the environment. In fact, their primary grower successfully reduced water waste by 20% through recycling, orchard pruning management, and utilizing both almonds and almond skin.

Barney Butter
The tale of Barney Butter starts with a nutty love story. For Dawn and Steve Kelley, it all began with a blind date that turned into a shared dream for “making something positive for the world” and a splash of serendipity. Since becoming a reality in 2008, the power couple-backed company has prided itself in sourcing 100% of their almonds from local growers and reducing the amount of carbon waste they produce in the process. Setting themselves apart from their competitors, they take the extra step to taking the skin off their almonds (a.k.a. blanching), resulting in an ultra-smooth and creamy almond butter that people can't get enough of.
